Slumber, oh slumber, true Love without measure!
Shepherds and wise men kneel down to adore Thee,
Hosts of bright angels sing gloriously o'er Thee.
2. Softly, oh softly, all nations come creeping!
God's only Son is here safe in my keeping:
Jesus is given to thee as they brother,
So am I truly forever thy mother.
3. Silent, oh silent, there's sorrow before us!
Christ, by His Blood, will earn happiness for us.
Then, in a Kingdom won by our endeavor,
Jesus will reign with His loved ones forever.
